Tartan Potager
This
winning entry for the 8th International Garden Festival at
Chaumont-sur-Loire, France was created with Frazer McNaughton and Lumir
Soukup. The design takes the form of a tartan potager, reflecting the
theme of the festival ‘Rien que de potagers’.
The
subtle plaid was made of intersecting bands of white cabbage, red
cabbage, curly kale, shallots, ruby chard and scarlet salvias.
Contrasting mulches of seaweed and mussel shells helped to reinforce
the pattern. A viewing frame, composed of wire baskets filled with
objects selected by friends and associates, provided a less clichéd
image of Scotland.
