Thames Chase
As
landscape advisor Nigel had the opportunity to collaborate with a lot
of different groups and individuals, on projects at a range of scales.
Top Left: Temporary exhibition along a new all-abilities boardwalk beside the Mar Dyke in Thurrock, south Essex.
Centre Left: This
demonstration woodland on a former sand and gravel quarry and landfill
site was designed in association with the Forestry Commission Alice
Holt research station. Oak vehicle gate by Jim Partridge.
Below:
Proposals for the Thurrock Plain - new tree blocks, wood pasture,
restored fen and orchards, connected by hedgerows and ‘green
corridors’. These are intended to improve the wildlife, recreational
and landscape value of the agricultural land, but also respect the
rectilinear field pattern which dates from the Roman period, possibly
earlier.
